Morris Chair

Title

Morris Chair

Date

1899

Maker

Gustave Stickley Company

Notes

This was a pretty standard Morris chair for the period, and demonstrates Stickley’s awareness of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement well prior to the release of his 1900 New Furniture catalog. According to the advertisement the selling point–other than the design–was that “rod con’t knock out.”
