Notes

With similar configuration of its stretchers and the rush seat, this stool reads as an adaptation of the Chalet Desk Stool that Stickley produced from 1900-01. Although it was probably not broader than its predecessor, the lower height changes the proportions and emphasizes its horizontality. Interestingly, in this and the side chair illustrated, the firm is is essence drawing upon the design aesthetic of 1900 while subtly updating it.
