Notes
An early version of this form was illustrated in Harvey Ellis, “How to Build a Bungalow,” The Craftsman 5 (December 1903): 259 in an “Alcove off of living room.” The top rail is not as refined as the final version of the form, and the sides feel a bit thicker, but clearly the general outline of the form–and the transformation from the earlier Cheval Glass (no. 35)–was well underway. Curiously, and despite the presence of this sketch documenting the design progress–Cheval Glass (no. 918) is one of the few forms represented by a drawing in Catalogue D as opposed to a photograph.
