Bookcase (no. 509)
Title
Bookcase (no. 509)
Date
1900-01
Maker
Gustave Stickley Company
Notes
The identification of this form is based on its number as well as the price it commanded in the 1901 Factory Inventory. Sequentially, it comes between a number of cabinets and book cabinets, which is never a guarantee because the system Stickley used for numbering remains impervious to rational discernment. Yet, at $56.00 in the inventory, it is consonant with the $54.00 price of Bookcases (nos. 510 and 511) in oak. The price seems to indicate a larger, two-door bookcase and is consonant with the pricing data available for those forms from 1900-15.
