Notes

This version features a leather top.
The illustrations for Library Table (no. 410) provided by Stickley throughout the form’s production may provide some essential clues to narrow the date of production. In the earliest depictions, the through tenons are shaped at the ends and the central finial above where the stretchers meet is distinctly flattened at the top. The 1902 retail plates provide a distinct break from that aesthetic as the through tenons are markedly rectilinear at the ends. Curiously, only two examples of that specific variation are known, which raises questions about the nature and purpose of that set of retail plates. By the time the form is featured in “Catalogue D” (as no. 625), the stretcher and tenon configuration is identical to the 1901 illustrations, but the finial has a more pronounced point.
Collectors and dealers have referred to his as hex table due to the hexagonal top.
