In the final version of this bed, Stickley returned to the linen panel featured in the first version, but used wide slats instead of narrow spindles for the sides. Additionally, the 1912 Craftsman Furniture catalog states: “with cane frame to hold mattress” so either caning (or evidence of the drilled holes for the caning) should help to distinguish the frame. The use of cane supports is a feature seen in his later work–which seems to date to about 1912–like Eastwood Chair (no. 347), manufactured from 1912-15.
